Placard-1075, blank and 1005

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) requires HAZMAT placards on vehicles transporting hazardous materials. The 1075 placard displays critical information for flammable gases, particularly liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or propane.

The 1075 placard features three flaps. One flap is blank, the other displays 1075 against a red background and the third displays 1005 against a green background. Using the placard, you can quickly identify your truck’s contents.

The colors and numbers on the placard allow for easy identification of truck contents in case of an accident. Emergency response teams can look at the placard and determine the best course of action based on what’s inside the truck.

The details on the placard include:

• Color: The 1075 placard is red, meaning the contents are flammable. The 1005 placard is green, which means the truck carries non-flammable, compressed gas.
• Four-digit UN number: The United Nations (UN) uses the number 1075 to identify cargo contents internationally. This number is the international identifier for propane. 1005 is the UN number for anhydrous ammonia.
• Hazard class: Hazard class numbers range from one to nine. 1075 and 1005 placards have a hazard class number of 2, referring to gas.
